Whether it’s fire season or not in Southern California, wildfire protection should be on your mind year round.
Last year, nearly 9,000 wildfires raged in California, burning over one million acres. More than 10,000 structures were destroyed and more than 40 people were killed. Burn areas throughout the state are beginning to turn green again, but now is the time to prepare for next fire season by creating defensible space around your property.
- Remove dead plants and vegetation from within a 30-foot radius (Zone 1) of buildings, structures and decks
- Remove dry leaves from your yard, roof and gutters
- Create a separation between trees, shrubs and other items that could catch fire
- Cut or mow grass in Zone 2 (100-feet away from property) to a max height of four inches
